Matrix was contracted to demolish 12 existing double storey houses and construct 18 Houses for Defence Housing Australia (DHA) to house Queensland’s highest ranked Officers, the Briggadere, the Major General and their families.

The houses consisted of 11 Double Storey x 4 bedroom x 2 bathroom,
5 x single storey 4 bedroom x 2 bathroom, 1 x 4 bed x 3 bathroom and
1 x 3 Level 4 bedroom x 3 bathroom residences. Construction of an entry feature communal BBQ alfresco area with extensive landscaping.

First ever house of this size in Queensland to house their highest ranking Officer, The Major General.

Extensive planning was required to ensure that finishes were of the highest quality throughout the entirety of the project. Matrix worked very closely with the client and architects to ensure this stipulation was met.

A 6 star energy rating was achieved and the houses were positioned to take advantage of the natural elements to help achieve the highest efficiency of cooling and heating.

Extensive retaining walls and landscaping was required to ensure each full block was level on a sloping street scape. BCA required intense Bushfire prevention requirements including a fire corridor and extensive landscaping to blend the corridor in the surrounding bushland.
